Become a Docent
Volunteer Opportunity! If you like talking to people and want to invest in the Oklahoma City community, consider volunteering at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art as a docent. The Museum seeks curious and flexible community members to help us engage with our visitors. Docents help OKCMOA provide important programs by guiding groups on tours through the Museum, answering questions about the artwork on display, and so much more! If you have always enjoyed learning and would like to share your knowledge with visitors, apply to become a volunteer docent at OKCMOA.
Time requirements: 3-5 Hours per week, training sessions are held on Tuesday afternoons or Saturday mornings
The OKCMOA docent training program runs on an annual basis, and training will begin in September 2024.
What is a Docent?
Many museums and art galleries have tour guides commonly referred to as “docents” (pronounced dō∙cent).
At OKCMOA, our docents receive regular training and information about each exhibition and the Museum’s permanent collection. Additionally, docents are given free admission to special events and discounts in the Museum Store.
The docent program is open to those eighteen years and up, who would like to talk with others about art, and can attend regular training sessions.
Apply to become a docent! Contact Tori Waldron, Manager of Teacher and School Programs, at twaldron@okcmoa.com, for more information about the application process.
