Filmmaker Tahmineh Milani will be in attendance! Free Screening!
Thursday, March 31 | 5:30 pm
Based on a script that was banned from production for more than seven years, this best screenplay winner at Iran’s Fajr Film Festival presents the lives of two architectural students during the first years of the Islamic Republic. The two characters, according to the film’s writer-director, Tahmineh Milani, represent one woman with two different life experiences—her actual life and what she would want it to be, were it not for the restrictive patriarchal society in which she lives. Featuring a frank, taboo-shattering depiction of domestic violence, Two Women is one of the most courageously feminist statements in recent Iranian cinema.
