About the Exhibition
Recognized as one of the greatest sculptors since the Renaissance, Auguste Rodin pioneered an approach to his art that aimed not only to capture the physicality of his subjects but also their psychology. Featuring over 100 works of art, True Nature: Rodin and the Age of Impressionism delves into the Classical influences on Rodin’s marble and bronze sculptures, the artist’s focus on portraiture, and his exploration of movement and the human body. Additionally, this exhibition contextualizes Rodin’s works by showcasing them alongside sculptures and paintings by his contemporary Impressionists, including Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Edgar Degas, and Paul Cézanne.
True Nature: Rodin and the Age of Impressionism was organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The exhibition is on view at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art June 17-October 22, 2023. Click here to learn more about the exhibition and explore related programming.
