As we close out Black History Month and kick off Women’s History Month, join OKCMOA Moderns for a panel conversation about the intersections of art and activism in Oklahoma. Virginia Sitzes, creator and director of Sunny Dayz Mural Festival, and JABEE, artist, activist, and “With Love” mural collaborator, will talk about how their art reflects their advocacy and how they work to uplift fellow artists from historically excluded and marginalized identities. Councilwoman Nikki Nice will moderate the discussion. Inspired by the roots of Tougaloo College’s art collection, some of which you can view at the Art and Activism at Tougaloo College exhibition on display through May 14, we’ll continue the conversation over bites and bevs after the panel.
Moderns members can register to attend for $10, and the public can secure tickets for $16. Registration fee includes 1 drink ticket and bites after the panel. Theater seating opens at 5:30 pm, and the panel will begin at 6:00 pm.
