When Max escapes, he reluctantly joins forces with the one-armed Furiosa (Charlize Theron) and the fleeing group of “wives” she chauffeurs. Filled with startling imagery and some of the most exhilarating action set-pieces in ages, this feminist science fiction-fantasy is destined to clean up in the technical categories at this year’s Oscars. It is also one of the best reviewed films of the past twelve months, finishing first on many critical surveys.
