Sixteen years after being featured in the breakout documentary hit Rivers and Tides: Andy Goldsworthy Working with Time, English artist Andy Goldsworthy returns in this captivating and endearing portrait of his artistic practice. We see a number of familiar ephemeral pieces from the environmental artist—everything from golden yellow leaves plastered on a stone staircase to ice sculptures forged in the British countryside. The film also introduces new works that incorporate the body of the spry sixty-something, who employs his adult daughter Holly as an assistant on a number of projects. Most prominent among the latter pieces is the deeply engaging Hedge Crawl that OKCMOA recently acquired as its first permanent work of video art. Leaning Into the Wind is the invigorating portrait of an artist who has transformed his everyday lived experience into a series of gloriously artistic acts.
