The Prophet, the work of celebrated Lebanese-American author Kahlil Gibran, remains one of the most successful volumes of poetry ever published, having sold more than 100 million copies since its original publication in 1923.  Thanks to the work of producer Salma Hayek (Frida) and writer-director Roger Allers (The Lion King), Gibran’s verse now provides the basis for a breathtaking new animated feature, Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet. The poems themselves are vividly brought to life within a series of short segments animated by such renowned artists as Tomm Moore (Song of the Sea) and Bill Plympton (Guide Dog), in their own unique styles. Framing these set pieces is a moving narrative depicting the journey of three memorable characters, exiled artist and poet Mustafa (Liam Neeson), his beautiful housekeeper (Hayek), and the latter’s mute daughter, Almitra.
