The East Building of the National Gallery of Art in Washington has recently reopened its galleries after three years of renovation and expansion. In this illustrated lecture, curator Harry Cooper offers a behind-the-scenes look at design and construction as well as a virtual tour of the new spaces, which now present one of the world’s great collections of modern art as never before. Along the way he will reflect on the ideas behind the new installation and the issues it raises.
