The Vesuvius Coast around Pompeii was where wealthy Romans from the capital went to wine, dine, and enjoy one of the world´s most beautiful coastlines. Their homes boasted elaborate frescoes, heating and cooling systems, and infinity pools with spectacular views. This class will introduce you to the known villas that were certainly among the hundreds that remain unexcavated. It includes the Portus Julius near Naples, now underwater, but can be explored by SCUBA divers, the newly discovered luxury villa at Positano on the Amalfi Coast, and the Boscoreale villa, discovered in the forest, which was certainly meant to be a luxurious retreat back to nature.
This class will be held virtually via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent in a reminder email the day before the class takes place. Please email learn@okcmoa.com with questions.
