In this series of classes, Danielle Oteri, art historian, lecturer and co-founder of the Feast on History travel, and her partner, Christian Galliani, sommelier and Italian wine expert, will take you on a virtual visit to Pompeii and its surrounding areas to explore the history, culture, food and wine. Food & Wine in Pompeii: Then and Now

Ancient Pompeiians consumed food and wines that are still enjoyed in Southern Italy today. This class will take you on a virtual tour of the food and wine from Naples to the Amalfi and Cilento Coasts. You will learn about garum, a fish sauce that was the favorite condiment of the Romans, mozzarella made from the milk of buffalos brought to Italy from the farthest corners of the Roman Empire, and San Marzano tomatoes that grow in the mineral–rich soil of Mount Vesuvius.
*Optional food and wine boxes are available for shipping. Registrants are not required to purchase the food and wine box in order to participate in the class.
