OKLAHOMA CITY (March 3, 2023) – The Oklahoma City Museum of Art will host its springtime Art in Bloom event, presented by Joan Payne, the weekend of April 14-16. This event will showcase the work of 11 floral designers who will create sculptures that take inspiration from works in the Museum’s permanent collection and current special exhibitions. The floral sculptures will be on view throughout the Museum’s galleries and can be experienced from 10 a.m. Friday through close at 5 p.m. on Sunday. The event is included with general admission to the Museum.
Premiering this year is Bubbles & Blooms, an evening event that occurs alongside Art in Bloom on Friday, April 14 from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets for this 21+ cocktail party on the Roof Terrace are now on sale. Event attendees will have the opportunity to sip floral-inspired cocktails created by WanderFolk Spirits, which will also be available for purchase in the Museum Store for the remainder of spring after their launch during Bubbles & Blooms. Also for the first time, visitors can attend a behind the scenes and watch the floral designers install their sculptures during Art After 5 on Thursday, April 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. The complete schedule of complementary programming taking place throughout the weekend is listed below and can be viewed online at okcmoa.com.

This event will feature floral-inspired cocktails, light bites, skyline views on the Roof Terrace, a DJ, and interactive performers in the galleries.

Members are invited to attend Art in Bloom in a more private setting for one hour before the Museum opens to the public

SPRING FLIGHT FLORAL CLASS
Saturday, April 15 | 10-11:30 a.m.
Ray’s Room Floral Company will lead this class inspired by Dale Chihuly’s Ikebana Boat. Visitors will learn different techniques for designing stunning florals at home without the use of foam. This class requires no tools or prior experience.

DROP-IN ART
Saturday, April 15 | 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
This come-and-go art activity, part of a regularly occurring series, will be focused on Art in Bloom-inspired raised contour painting.

ORCHID ARRANGEMENT LECTURE AND DEMONSTRATION
Saturday, April 15 | 12-1 p.m.
Calvert’s Plant Interiors’ horticulturists will host a class on orchids, providing tips on how they can be cultivated indoors.

POPPY PALETTE PAINTING WORKSHOP
Sunday, April 16 |12-1:30 p.m.
This activity will focus on flowers in art as seen in the galleries, and will incorporate a guided painting activity.

MIXED-MEDIA FLORAL CREATIONS WORKSHOP
Sunday, April 16 | 2:30-4 p.m.
Participants will utilize high-quality materials, such as liquid watercolors, powdered paint, gel gloss medium, and more to create a unique, floral-inspired work of art.
