We, at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, grieve the killings of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and so many more who have died or lost their loved ones to unchecked police violence. Widespread protests, including those close to the Museum, once again have brought into focus long histories of systemic racism, violence, and silencing that continue to strike Black communities. We support all those who strive for justice and equity, and stand against oppression in all its forms. As a Museum, we will commit to open lines of communication for dialogue, we will seek out opportunities to diversify our collection, exhibitions and programming, and we will look inward at our own culture to ensure that we model the same values of courage and inclusivity as those who are leading the charge against racial injustice in our country.
