A favorite spring event in downtown OKC begins April 27 at 5 p.m. That’s the opening of OKCMOA’s Roof Terrace for the season. Open Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m., admission is only $5 (free for Museum members) and features live local music, light bites, a full bar, beautiful views and access to OKCMOA’s galleries.
“With new lighting and an expanded wine and cocktail list, we’re excited for this year’s Roof Terrace season,” said Ahmad Farnia, general manager of the Museum Cafe. “The Roof Terrace is a great place to bring a date or to grab a drink with friends and colleagues. The atmosphere and the views are unlike anything else in Oklahoma City.”
Beginning April 27 and running nearly every Thursday through late October, the Roof Terrace will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. with live music starting at 6 p.m. Several favorite bands will be back this season, including the Broke Brothers, Dirty Red and the Soul Shakers and Hosty. In addition, there will be some new groups on the roof including Edgar Cruz and The Brave Amigos and Maggie McClure.
Starting June 22, guests will also be able to view the Museum’s special summer exhibition “Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic.” The exhibition, organized by the Brooklyn Museum, presents over 50 paintings and sculptures spanning the artist’s career.
High temperatures, wind or storm warnings may affect the opening of the Roof Terrace. Visitors can sign up for the Roof Terrace email alert at okcmoa.com or text “artafter5” to 33222 to receive updates on weather-related closings.
