Thanks to SONIC Drive-In, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art will host four SONIC Free Family Days over the next year: Oct. 20, 2019, Dec. 1, 2019, March 15, 2020 and June 28, 2020. Occurring Sundays from noon to 5 p.m., each SONIC Free Family Day will feature free admission, an art-making activity, in-gallery experiences and special guests. Free admission and activities for the day are made possible by SONIC Drive-In.
“We are excited to double the number of SONIC Free Family Days we will offer this year,” said Bryon Chambers, manager of tours and adult learning. “The Museum exists to enrich lives through the visual arts and adding more free days to our calendar allows us to serve more members of our community. This year, we are especially excited to add a day during OKCPS spring break and during next summer’s exciting exhibition ‘POP Power from Warhol to Koons.’ We would like to say a big thank you to SONIC Drive-In for their continued support of this important program. We would also like to thank Tyler Media and Metro Family Magazine for supporting this year’s events as our media sponsors.”
“When the Museum came to us to propose increasing the number of free family days this year, we were thrilled,” added Christi Woodworth, vice president of public relations for SONIC Drive-in. “We are proud to help expand access to the arts in OKC. With family activities, hands-on art making and time in the Museum’s beautiful galleries, SONIC Free Family Days are the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends and family.”
The Museum has also partnered with the Metropolitan Library System to offer a pop-up library at all four SONIC Free Family Days. The library will offer books for check out and will help visitors sign up for library cards.
More details about each event will be posted to the Museum’s website as available.
