OKCMOA announces a new season of Third Thursday after-hours events from 5 to 9 p.m. beginning July 18 and presented by Love’s Travel Stops. Love’s Third Thursdays on July 18, Aug. 15 and Sept. 19 will feature a revamped Roof Terrace lounge complete with cash bar, light bites for purchase provided by the Museum Cafe, refreshed seating areas and a new sculpture installation curated from the Museum’s permanent collection. Summer Third Thursdays also include after-hours access to the Museum’s special exhibition “Van Gogh, Monet, Degas.” Beginning in October, Love’s Third Thursdays will feature monthly themes to be announced.
“We are excited to build on the success of the last year of Third Thursday events,” said Kimberley Worrell, OKCMOA development director. “This season promises something for everyone with our incredible exhibition ‘Van Gogh, Monet, Degas’ headlining the summer months and visitor favorites like Murder Mystery Night and A Night of Hygge this winter. We are also working on some exciting new themes and activities. I would like to thank Love’s Travel Stops for their continued support of this unique program.”
“We’re excited to support another year of this wonderful Museum program,” said Jenny Love Meyer, vice president of communications at Love’s. “Love’s Third Thursday has quickly become a popular way to enjoy the Museum after hours and experience something new. Love’s is committed to supporting the arts in OKC and looks forward to introducing many people to the Museum’s fantastic collection this year.”
A new sculpture installation on the Museum’s Roof Terrace highlights works by Alexandra Alaupovic, Bill Barrett, Rudolf Hoflehner, Larry Mohr and Charles T. Williams. The sculptures line the south wall of the Roof Terrace and were selected to reflect the dynamic view of the downtown skyline.
Admission to the Museum for Third Thursday is $12, and no other discounts apply. For the duration of the summer, Third Thursday admission will include admission to “Van Gogh, Monet, Degas: The Mellon Collection of French Art from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts” (normally $15). Admission for Museum members is always free. Programming will continue monthly on the third Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. Future themes will be posted to the Museum’s website and social media accounts.
More information about Third Thursdays, including how to purchase tickets, can be found on the Museum’s website, www.okcmoa.com. The Museum’s Roof Terrace will be open seasonally during Third Thursday events, weather permitting.
