Cannes Film Festival: Winner Best Actor
Saturday, July 16 | 5:30 pm
Following a prolonged period of unemployment, fifty-one-year-old former factory worker Thierry (Vincent Lindon, La Moustache) finds new work as a security guard at a big-box retailer. Though Thierry quickly shows himself to be well suited for the position, the requirements of the job soon force this husband and father of a special-needs high school student into a series of ethical quandaries. When the much-revered Lindon was awarded the 2015 Cannes Best Actor prize for The Measure of a Man—a surprise to no one—the news was met with prolonged applause by festivalgoers. Earlier this year, Lindon’s subtle and captivating performance also earned the leading man his first César (France’s version of the Oscars) after five prior nominations.
