OKCMOA is hosting a new and exciting performance this summer by the newest Oklahoma City opera company, Painted Sky Opera, in collaboration with the Oklahoma Haydn Festival. Discover the thoroughly entertaining lives of Gasparina, Appollonia, Don Pelagio, and Don Ettore in La Canterina.
Gasparina’s singing teacher (Don Pelagio) tries to gain her love with gifts and free housing. While Gasparina has no interest in him besides his teaching, she (and her stage mother Appollonia) enjoy having someone pay for the bills. Meanwhile, she is also wooed by the son of a wealthy merchant, Don Ettore. Don Pelagio is initially furious that Gasparina is fooling around with another suitor. But through cunning manipulations, she manages to have both men eating out of her hand.
