On board a luxury yacht in the middle of the Aegean Sea, six men on a fishing trip decide to play a game. The contest will measure their every behavior—from the men’s posture, to their cholesterol, to how they sleep—in an attempt to determine who is “the best in general.” The latest, Buñuelian critical favorite from fast-rising Greek director Athina Rachel Tsangari (Attenberg), Chevalier is one of those rare films that forces the viewer to see the world anew through the ingenuity of its concept—in this case, it’s the endless absurdity of the male competitive spirit. Chevalier is one of the best films to come of out Greece in the past few years.
