2017 Academy Award® Nominee

In a place known only as The City, sometime in the near future, single adults are given 45 days to find a mate. If they fail, they are turned into the animal of their choice and released into the wild. David (Colin Farrell) is the newest resident of The Hotel, and like all guests, is characterized by a flaw: in his case, near-sightedness. After becoming close with some of his fellow male guests, including the Lisping Man (John C. Reilly), David begins a relationship with the Heartless Woman, whose cruelty he is forced to imitate. When things end badly, David flees to a nearby wood where he joins up with an illicit band of loners (which includes Rachel Weisz). A work of darkly comedic fantasy/science-fiction, this Academy Award® nominee for Best Original Screenplay is acclaimed Greek writer-director Yorgos Lanthimos’s (Dogtooth) English-language debut, and was one of the biggest hits at 2015’s Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize and the “Palm Dog” (for best canine performance).
