Session 1: Participants will explore Dale Chihuly: The Oklahoma Collection at the start of the class, observing the distinctive shapes and forms in his artwork. Afterward, we’ll return to the classroom to start crafting our own Chihuly-inspired bowls using clay. Participants will learn slump and slab techniques to shape their vessels. The session will conclude with time dedicated to refining the pieces by smoothing or adding details to the clay.
Session 2: We will revisit Dale Chihuly: The Oklahoma Collection to observe and discuss the use of color in his work. Upon returning to the classroom, we will refine our vessels by sanding and smoothing the forms, as well as adding lines, patterns, or other details. Finally, we will complete our pieces with a full glaze.
The pieces will remain on-site to be kiln-fired and participants will be emailed when the finished pieces are ready to be picked up.
This class is designed for adults ages 18+.
