After seventy-six years of marriage, Byong-man Jo and Gye-Yeul Kang remain inseparable. Living in a small home beside the river, they go shopping at the market, sing and dance, see their children on holidays, and go to bed holding each other’s hand. Director Jin Moyoung observed the pair for fifteen months, witnessing the tender acts of affection and moments of humor that fill the couple’s twilight years. My Love, Don’t Cross That River was a blockbuster in its native Korea, becoming the country’s biggest independent film of all time. Since then, Jin’s deeply moving fly-on-the-wall feature has won multiple international awards, including Best Documentary at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
