LITTLE LEPRECHAUNS

Everything is green! Let’s learn about the color green and find it in the galleries. We will talk about how we make the color green and use our hands and brushes to cover our paper with shades of green. To finish it off, we’ll add gold bits from the end of the rainbow!

Look up! Let’s share a story and talk about the different things we see in the sky. Next, we'll draw and paint what we see, and then visit the galleries and take a look at the sky outside. Back in the classroom, we'll cut out our sky shapes and attach them to wooden dowels to make a colorful mobile.

Celebrate Van Gogh’s birthday with us! First, we will read a book and enjoy a snack. Then, we’ll study his works and tour the gallery. In the classroom, we will use all sorts of different things that “go” to cover our paper with vibrant paints, leaving you with a masterpiece of your very own.

For this new class all about light in art, we will tour the special exhibition by New York-based artist Jason Peters titled Anti.Gravity.Material.Light. Then, we will all enjoy a snack and read a story. In the classroom, we will use tissue paper, plastic, and embellishments to create a beautiful sun catcher for your window at home.
MARBLE ROLLING ABSTRACT ART

In this class, we will explore abstract artwork by artists such as Jackson Pollock. We will tour the galleries and return to the classroom to create our own abstract masterpiece. First ,we’ll tape paper to the bottom of a pan, and then we’ll drop paint-covered marbles in and shake our pan around to reveal a very special piece of artwork!

LUMPY, BUMPY ART

Join us for this fun class on texture! First, we will feel different textures and then find them in the gallery. When we get back to the classroom, we will create our own texture paintings. We’ll apply a special, thick paint using unconventional items such as plastic forks and combs onto canvas paper, giving us lots of lumps and bumps.
SQUISHY, SQUEEZY SCULPTURES

Discover a world of textures in art! First, we’ll play with cooked noodles and wooden blocks as we listen to a story. Then, we’ll search the galleries for sculptures. Finally, we’ll make our own soft, squishy sculptures that will harden overnight.

In this fun class, we will talk about the many kinds of lines. Then, we will venture into the galleries to find lines in artwork. In the classroom, we will apply tape to our paper and paint over it with different colors. While our works dry, we will read the book When a Line Bends...a Shape Begins and have a fun snack. We’ll finish by removing the tape to reveal our special artwork!

Join us for this fun class about the details of dressing! Together, we will read a story, enjoy a snack, and tour the special exhibition, Sketch to Screen: The Art of Hollywood Costume Design. In the classroom, we will use paper, fabric, glue, markers, and embellishments to decorate and dress a little version of ourselves!
