Spend the day working with your hands in the Earth's most ancient art material. Sculptural ideas will be explored through time-tested techniques. All levels of experience welcome in this group journey and exchange of ideas. One-on-one instruction as well as group demonstrations will help each student create works with personal direction. Fee includes clay and firing charges.
GLASSBLOWING – LEVEL 2

Andrew Boatman, Blue Sage Studios
This course offers students the opportunity to learn advanced glassblowing techniques while creating vessels. Teamwork will be the focus of this class. Glassblowing – Level 1 is a required prerequisite for this class. Fee includes $15 materials charge.

These brief workshops teach beginning students the fundamentals of working with hot glass. Students meet offsite at Blue Sage Studios, where they will focus on safety, the movement of glass, and movement within the glass studio. We’ll practice the techniques of gathering, shaping, and jacking the glass and create three solid glass paperweights while receiving an introduction to the cold working process of grinding glass.

Bring your friends and enjoy a relaxing and enlightening evening as you learn how to craft your own terra cotta wine goblet. Then, sample a variety of wine and cheese pairings, provided by the Museum Cafe. Finally, we’ll decorate and incise our goblets to prepare them for firing. Fee includes tasting, clay, and firing charges; pieces will be kiln-fired and will be ready approximately two weeks following completion of the class.
